Guided Tours - Historic Tours of the Appalachian Theatre

Select Wednesdays, the venerable Appalachian Theatre of the High Country will provide staff-led guided tours of their historic facility starting at 1 p.m. Tours are free of charge and last approximately 45 minutes.

Reservations advised.

Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Tour Begins @ 1 p.m.     Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to scheduled tour time.
Lobby Box Office hours: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Tours are free of charge and last approximately 45 minutes. The tour includes a walk-through of the venue, insight into the theatre's history, and a 15-minute short film chronicling the evolution of the space and featuring first-hand perspectives. Tour goers explore the theatre's historical photo gallery, hear stories and anecdotes about the venue and its role throughout the years, and visit the audience and backstage areas of the newly-refurbished theatre.

"This venue, its traditions, and the stories surrounding it are near and dear to the hearts of those who've made history here,” said App Theatre Executive Director Suzanne Livesay. “The mini-documentary shares wonderful backstory and helps newcomers better understand and relate to the rich history of the theatre."

PARKING INFORMATION

Please be sure to carefully read the information and instructions below to have the best experience when you visit the theatre.

Metered street parking & pay lots are monitored and parking is enforced Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 pm except on town observed holidays.

Parking is $1.00/hour at all metered parking spaces. 
Metered & lot parking is free all day on Sundays and every day after 5 p.m.
 
Parking in Appalachian State parking lots (e.g. the Peacock Lot accessed off Howard Street) is available for free on week nights after 5 p.m. and on non-gameday/event weekends on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Accessible Parking:
Parking at metered accessible parking areas is free, as long as the correct placard/license plate is displayed and up to date.
