Search for Past shows

Our volunteer historians—particularly Dr. Gary Boye and Dr. Craig Fischer—have worked meticulously for the past several years to document all of the shows that have taken place at the Appalachian Theatre, whether they were films or live performances.

Using the two search interfaces below, you can look for shows by date or name. Curious about what film ran on your birthday? Look it up! Trying to find your favorite Zorro film or that final stage performance by Cupid Davis and His All American Hillbilly Barn Dance? Look it up!

Search Here for Films, 1938-2007

Please note that the Appalachian Theatre was dark on Sundays from November 14, 1938, to April 18, 1954, so searches for dates that are Sundays in that period will return results that are blank.

Search Here for Live Shows, 1939-1962

Please note that live acts were not a daily or even weekly occurrence, particularly after the installation of the Cinemascope screen in 1954. No live shows occurred between December 1953 and June 1958, and only seven live shows took place between June 1958 and the last live show (a twist dance contest) in May 1962.
