As one of North Carolina’s most beloved roots music outfits, Chatham Rabbits has swiftly emerged from the fertile Americana scene in the Triangle. The husband-and-wife duo of Sarah and Austin McCombie favors rustic, minimalist acoustic arrangements—mainly clawhammer-style banjo and guitar that showcase deftness and maturity with their songwriting. The duo has a way of connecting with their audiences that is warm and universal. Chatham Rabbits’ first album All I Want From You (2019) was recorded with the help of Watchhouse’s Andrew Marlin, and their sophomore album, The Yoke is Easy, The Burden is Full, released May 1, 2020. Their song “Oxen” was named one of the “Top Folk Songs of 2020" by Paste Magazine and the band has been covered by Garden & Gun Magazine, American Songwriter, and No Depression. Their ingenuity during the Covid-19 crisis led to the building of their own venue, The Burrow, and the creation of their mobile concert experience, The Stay at Home Tour which took Chatham Rabbits to 194 neighborhoods in 2020-21. The duo is currently filming a new television show for PBS NC, On the Road with Chatham Rabbits for PBS NC that will premiere in Spring 2022.

In the decades since, he’s seen the bluegrass community evolve and expand.  “The bluegrass fans, they're pretty loyal,” he says, noting that he’s found a similar kinship sharing stages with jam bands like Phish and Leftover Salmon, too. “They stick behind you, they're there for you.” Carter mirrors that loyalty with his own—loyalty to his craft, loyalty to the road, and loyalty to the career path he’s dreamt of since childhood. With Lowdown Hoedown, Carter shares the fruits of decades’ worth of on-the-road experience, spectacular musical sensibility, and genuine excitement for what bluegrass can be.

PARKING INFORMATION

Please be sure to carefully read the information and instructions below to have the best experience when you visit the theatre.

Metered street parking & pay lots are monitored and parking is enforced Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 pm except on town observed holidays.

Parking is $1.00/hour at all metered parking spaces. 
Metered & lot parking is free all day on Sundays and every day after 5 p.m.
 
Parking in Appalachian State parking lots (e.g. the Peacock Lot accessed off Howard Street) is available for free on week nights after 5 p.m. and on non-gameday/event weekends on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Accessible Parking:
Parking at metered accessible parking areas is free, as long as the correct placard/license plate is displayed and up to date.

ATHC does not own or operate any parking lots or meters and cannot accept responsibility for any parking mishaps or fees.
